A BREATH OF FRESH AIR: Samsung’s WindFree™ line sets gold standard in air purification and condition

With the relaxation of strict lockdown due to the pandemic in our country, more and more businesses are going back, albeit to the new version of what used to be normal. But as the majority of these businesses are conducted indoors such as in offices, restaurants, and tiny shops where most transmissions occur, businesses need to ensure that measures will be taken to help control the transmission of airborne infectious diseases indoors.

Here are tips on how to make business safe and thriving during this pandemic:

Upgrade indoor air quality.

According to WHO, air-conditioning (HVAC) systems can be controlled to

maintain indoor air temperature and humidity at healthy and comfortable levels for its tenants. A well-maintained and operated system may reduce the risk of transmission in indoor spaces by increasing the rate of air change, reducing recirculation of air and increasing the use of outdoor air.

In homes, fresh outside air gets in through open windows and doors. However, this is not the case for commercial buildings where outside air is usually pumped in through heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. Samsung, understanding this limitation, made innovations to their product to upgrade the indoor air quality. Recently, it launched the new Samsung WindFree™ 4Way Cassette, now equipped with an air purifying panel that allows circulation of clean air indoors, preventing stale air, viruses, and bacteria. Samsung’s WindFree™ 4Way Cassette creates a fresher, more comfortable, and safer indoor space by dispersing air gently through 15,700 micro-holes in the panel.

On WindFree™ mode, it eliminates cold air drafts to make people comfortably cool and instead produces “still air” or a gentle flow of air that is undetectable as it softly permeates any room. To date, Samsung partnered with Rockwell Land to launch the Samsung WindFree™ 4Way Cassette with Air Purifying Panel across Rockwell workspaces in Metro Manila. This new air conditioning system is the first in the Philippines to use WindFree™ technology in the workplace.

Use an air conditioner that also doubles as air purifier.

Living in a tropical country like ours, some things are non-negotiable no matter the season like having air conditioners cranked on full blast. But does the typical air conditioner clean air? Definitely not. This is why standalone air purifiers are also selling like hotcakes these days.

Portable air cleaners offer an additional layer of protection by limiting the spread of the virus via long-range airborne particles by capturing most of those particles in a HEPA filter and cleaning the air at a rate of up to six times per hour. The only downside to a personal air cleaner is the cost (in addition to the upfront cost, there’s the cost of replacement filters and energy to consider). So why can’t you have both? Samsung solves this conundrum by integrating an air purifier in its air conditioning unit. Samsung’s WindFree™ 4Way Cassette also has added functions and features that assure indoor air quality is safe even in high foot traffic establishments such as retail outlets, restaurants, cafes, and offices. How exactly does it do this?

a. Comes with two types of filters: Pre-filter & PM 1.0 Filter. The PM 1.0 Filter sterilizes up to 99% of microorganisms that are collected in the filter, eliminating 99% of bacteria and viruses such as Escherichia coli (E. coli) or Staphylococcus aureus.

b. High Cleaning Performance. With the large cleaning area of up to 157 sqm and high cadr of up to 19.9m3/min, it cleans air fast and powerfully, even in large spaces like officers and restaurants.

c. Thorough Purification. As a result of a purification test that was conducted in the classroom, 58’% of ultra-fine dust were removed after the Purification operation for 10 minutes, and up to 91% of ultra-fine dust were removed after the Purification operation of 30 minutes.

Use an air conditioner that is smart and cost-efficient.

Lastly, though it’s really not for safety purposes, use an air conditioning unit that is cost-efficient. Samsung WindFree™ 4Way Cassette’s filters are washable and do not need replacement at all! It also features a motion detector sensor that detects absence in the room and switches to WindFree™ mode to reduce energy consumption by as much as 50 percent.

Samsung WindFree™ 4Way Cassette highlights WindFree™ Cooling mode, with up to 55 percent less electricity than normal cooling, keeping employees comfortably cool without worrying about bill surges. Another interesting feature is a motion detector sensor that detects absence in the room and switches to WindFree™ mode to reduce energy consumption by as much as 50 percent.
