Pushing the boundaries of creative excellence, addressing pressing design issues
The quest for the most brilliant and innovative interior designers and architects across the nation persists, following the enthusiastic endorsement of the Asia Young Designer Awards (AYDA) theme launch by Nippon Paint (Coatings) Philippines, Inc. This platform is meticulously crafted to ignite the creative sparks in students, motivating them to nurture their talents through collaborative learning experiences and establishing valuable connections with influential figures within the industry, as well as their contemporaries throughout the region.
Conducted at Seda Vertis in Diliman, Quezon City, specifically in Quezon Hall 1, this event inspired students pursuing Interior Design and Architecture to channel their talents towards reshaping future spaces and leaving a lasting mark on future generations. It urged them to employ their creative prowess in crafting practical design solutions that address the pressing issues of our time.
In its 15th year, this edition of the AYDA Awards embraces the theme, "Converge: Championing Purposeful Design," a perfect embodiment of Nippon Paint's unwavering dedication to expanding the horizons of creative brilliance.
The theme for this year revolves around discovering your inner essence and deeply held convictions before translating them into your design work. It centers on the path that designers embark upon as they seek a purpose worth dedicating themselves to. Our beliefs and investments can evolve over time. Conversely, the term "converge" symbolizes the moment when a point or line intersects, ultimately leading to a shared outcome.
“The AYDA Awards would like to help shape a future where designers from different backgrounds, cultures and regions can learn from each other and deliver the best possible solution to common and underlying social challenges,” explained Giselle Campos, Sales and Marketing Manager of Nippon Paint (Coatings) Philippines, Inc.
“Today, as designers face the challenge of providing a balance between sustainability and urbanization, and at a time when digitalization has already taken over interpersonal bonding, we believe that going local should also be considered fit for global appreciation,” she added.

The AYDA Awards made its debut in 2008 with the aim of igniting the creative spirit and innovation among students pursuing interior design and architecture. Initially launched in Malaysia, it has since expanded its reach to encompass 14 additional countries, which now include Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
